Morningstar Living - Philosophy of Care and Service

Philosophy of Care and Service

Philosophy of Care and Service

Our Commitment to Wellness for Life… Care for Life

At all Morningstar Living entities, our philosophy of care and service is simple. We strive every day to provide the highest quality of wellness and compassionate care…for life. These guiding principles describe this philosophy in action every day:

  • We believe in a holistic, wellness approach to care that takes into account the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of every individual we serve. To this end, we provide a full-time physician, chaplain, registered nurses, recreational and physical therapists, and social workers on duty or available on call after hours at all times on our campus.
  • We believe in the importance of offering lifestyle choices in attractive, safe and secure settings where socialization and privacy are respected and independence and human dignity are honored.
  • We believe in the value of HOME, NEIGHBORHOODS, FAMILY, FRIENDS, and PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS in order to provide an atmosphere of well-being and healing as well as a sense of peace and safety for those who may be at the end of life.
  • We believe in compassionate communications with the families and responsible parties of our residents to foster a positive atmosphere of integrity, trust, and openness. We encourage the building of healthy relationships between residents, families, and staff to promote the quality of living and of coping with life’s challenges.
  • We believe in the value of fewer medications as opposed to more. We understand that these decisions are made by physicians with resident and family input, but it is our pledge to work together with medical professionals, residents and families to appropriately minimize the amount of medications prescribed during the time that individuals are in our care simply because we believe medication side effects are often more adverse than the malady being treated.
  • We believe in exceptional care and passionate service in compliance with the highest medical and ethical standards and regulations. This means that our staffing patterns exceed Pennsylvania’s requirements for licensed nursing care and personal care facilities and that we agree to voluntarily maintain our accredited status to ensure accountability to standards of excellence more stringent than those required by law.

These guiding principles support the motto of the Moravian Church:
“In essentials, unity – in non-essentials, liberty. In all things, love.”
